Had a wicked time in the Alps, its only my second ever time snowboarding and last time I went I was complete shite and came home with about 30 bruises. This time though I rocked, and did all the red and blue runs but didn't try any of the black ones. The resort is nice I would reccomend Les Contamines to most people (intermediate/begginer level), its a nice quaint village/town (French) with enough bars/restuarants to keep people happy for at least a week or maybe longer. The altitude of the village is 1190 metres which ain't that high really but the boarding/skiiing is done above 1900 metres and there are two cable cars running there from the village. Six of us went together and we stayed in a chalet with lots of other people and it was great. Basically everyday was the same which consisted of a) getting up at 8:00am b) getting the lift up to 1900m c) snowboarding until midday c) lunch + drinking beer in t-shirt in glorious sunshine d) coming back to village about 4:00pm e) shower than getting extremely pissed. What an excellent time. Also spent an evening on a skidoo. This was in fact the cheapest holiday we could get in the Alps yet I enjoyed it much more than I did when I went to Les Arcs 1800 last year. Can I just add that the French people I met were extremely friendly as well (shock horror). Oh by the end of the holiday I was attempting a few ramps and managed to snowboard into the side of a hut at least once (no injuries though).
